Cool during the summer!

Cool through the summer!

Summer can be a great time for outdoor activities, but it can also be a time when temperatures soar and staying cool can be a challenge. Here are some tips on how to stay cool in the summer.
1. Eat a light meal so your metabolism doesn't get too high while you're trying to relax. Make sure your room is well ventilated and sleep in breathable fabrics, such as cotton or linen.

2. Drink plenty of ice water to stay hydrated and prevent heat-related illnesses. Place ice packs on pulse areas such as wrists, neck, groin, and temples to stay cool.

3. Drinking water is an obvious but very important aspect of staying cool in the summer heat. Water is an essential nutrient for the body and during the summer months staying hydrated is essential to maintaining the body's core temperature so you don't feel too hot. Any health professional will advise you to avoid being outdoors when it is at its hottest.

4. Wear loose-fitting cotton clothing that absorbs moisture and keeps your body cool.

5. Use fans or air conditioners to circulate air and reduce humidity.

6. Take cool showers or baths.

7. Choose breathable and lightweight fabrics such as cotton, linen, viscose, silk, chiffon, polyester, jersey or chambray.

Wear cooling textiles
Personal cooling textiles are a promising energy-free way to address the serious heat-related health hazards and improve the productivity of industrial workers. Current cooling strategies focus mainly on passive daytime radiation, and research on all-day cooling methods utilizing synergistic radiative and evaporative cooling mechanisms is lacking. A recent study published in the journal Nano Letters showed that personal cooling textiles can be made by integrating Janus wettability and thermal conduction in hierarchically structured nanofibers. The study showed that the textiles can effectively cool the skin by up to 6.5 °C without energy input.
